Miss Universe: Wrong winner crowned

Shock and disbelief have erupted online after the wrong Miss Universe winner was crowned.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was announced winner of the 2015 beauty pageant before organisers revealed she was actually the first runner-up.

Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was later declared the winner.

#MissUniverse2015 also became Twitter's biggest trend of the night as thousands of social media users began to express disbelief using jokes and memes.
'Miss Information'

"Talk about awkward," described one Twitter user who "couldn't help" but find the gaffe "hilarious".

Another user, Mark Critch from Canada, said: "And the winner is - Miss Information."

Facebook users also expressed their opinions on a post shared on the pageant's official page.

It was shared more than 62,000 times and received more than 17,000 comments from viewers across the world.

"That was poorly handled. Both of these gorgeous ladies deserve an apology because that was embarrassing for both of them. I literally felt both of their pain," read a top comment by Lemmy Cliff.

"That was the most annoying Miss Universe contest ever," said another commenter Andres Felipe Arbelaez. "The host was horrible and Miss Colombia should have won."

Pageant fans from the Philippines also began to express anger at the incident.

"Our Miss Philippines didn't get her shining moment," said a fan on Facebook. "It feels like she and our country were robbed of the winning moment, shame!"

'Everything happens for a reason'

Ms Wurtzbach has since told reporters that she wishes Ms Gutierrez well following the incident.

"I'm very sorry, I did not take the crown away from her and I wish her well in whatever she wants to pursue after this pageant," she said.

Ms Gutierrez also addressed fans in a backstage video that has been shared on the pageant's official page.

She said: "Everything happens for a reason so I'm happy for all that I did."

At the end of the night, Ms Gutierrez was named first runner-up followed by Olivia Jordan from the United States.

Host Steve Harvey responded, saying it was "his mistake" and he would take responsibility for not reading the winning card correctly.

"I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible," he said in a tweet that was re-tweeted more than 51,000 times.

"I don't want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants - they were all amazing."

While some Twitter users remained upset over the mistake, others began to tweet out messages of support.

"Don't feel terrible. Everyone makes mistakes," said Pedro Da Cunha.

"To err is human... to forgive is divine," said another user in reply to Mr Harvey's apology.

In an incident apparently unconnected to the competition, at least one person was killed and dozens injured after a car ploughed into a crowd next to the Miss Universe venue.

I'm going to london!

Hey guys! sorry I haven't posted in a while... but this time I actually have something to say! so, basically, my nan gets special offers due to where she works and contracts with her job ect... therefore she got a deal on going to London. I have never been to London, but tomorrow I will go and have a fun day out with my nan granddad and cousin, Charlie. We set off tomorrow morning and get on a coach to London, when we get there we get a pass each so we can skip the queue's on certain attractions. For example: the ice rink, the fair rides, a few more things I can't remember, ect... ect...
When I get the time (I don't really know when) I will tell you all about it, in another post.

The fight against so-called Islamic State (IS) will dominate talks in Washington shortly as French President Francois Hollande meets US President Barack Obama.

The Paris suicide attacks claimed by IS have prompted the US to issue a worldwide travel alert to its citizens.
President Hollande is meeting other world leaders this week, hoping to forge a stronger alliance against IS.
But Turkey's downing of a Russian jet has fuelled tension over the Syria war.
As Turkey is a Nato member the incident has put a new strain on Russian-Western efforts to neutralise the IS threat in Syria and Iraq.

The US is unlikely to support French efforts to build a Russian-Western military alliance against IS, correspondents say. But there is some military co-ordination with Russia.
France is now sending warplanes from the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, off the Syrian coast, to pound IS targets.

Brownie recipe

The very best brownies!
Recipe


Ingredients

• 120 grams of butter
• 8 tablespoons of water
• 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
• 360 grams of sugar
• 360 grams of flour
• 120 grams of cocoa powder
• 2 tablespoons of oil

Tools and equipment

• microwave
• grease proof paper
• 2 mixing bowls
• brownie tin (see notes for size)
• knife
• whisk

Instructions

1. melt butter in the microwave for approximately 1 minuet in mixing bowl 1.
2. mix dry ingredients and water in mixing bowl 2, this will make mixture 1.
3. add vanilla extract and oil to butter and mix, this will make mixture 2.
4. slowly add mixture 1 to mixture 2, mixing well in-between.
5. line brownie tin with grease proof paper and add mixture.
6. microwave on high for approximately 2 minuets.
7. if brownies not cooked (see notes for how to check accurately) put in for another minuet. repeat until cooked.
8. wait until cooled before cutting (see notes for why).

Notes

• Brownie tin must fit in microwave.
• To check if cooked, insert a knife to the centre of brownies. If it comes out clean they are cooked, if it comes out dirty (brownie mix on it) it is still raw.
• If brownies are not cooled before cut they will crumble.

She saw the house, she had heard the stories but didn't believe them, Katherine le Royaal de Mancestie was her name. She walked up to it and felt a strong gust of wind grab her like an animal, pushing her towards the old, crippled door. It opened.
 She fell in.
 It closed.
 It locked.
She didn't understand how the porte did that by it's self, she didn't deliberately move, it was confusing her. Suddenly she couldn't move, it was like she was paralyzed! She tried to yell, but her mouth was on the floor.


She stopped panicking and tried to relax, when a sharp pain shot down her spine and the after sting felt like surgery. Awake. She blacked out and when she awoke all she could see was red. She could feel deep wounds in her back, and tight bands around her hands and feet, spikes in her wrists and hips, and a strong corset on her body. She started to feel cold and exposed, and started getting her vision back, she saw her naked body with chains attached to metal spiked jabbed all over her. But no blood.


She screamed. Then realized she was fully dressed again with no pain, apart from her slit throat. She was suffocating, dying, still no blood. No slit neck any more. But she saw her boyfriend, she loved him dearly, then she looked down and she was bare again. Her boyfriend stopped ripping her clothes off, and started kissing her, she pushed him away. She was once again fully dressed, but her boyfriend was dead. She knelled down to see if he was real, and sure enough he was.


Katherine heard voices from down the hall (she was upstairs in the chambre). She stood up, tears on her cheeks, yelling "I'm here! I'm here! Jackson is salles! Help! somebody... help....." she collapsed. The voices were getting louder and louder, then the door opened, someone had saved her. She woke up. The people where her best friends  Lilli-Anna and Jane-Louise, then they simultaneously gasped, ran up to her and knelt down. They were crying.


"I'm right here, in front of you. Pourquoi pleures-tu? Lili? Lou?*gasp*" she looked down at her dead body as her two favourite friends where hunched over her, and she heard her boyfriend say "I love you, now we can be as un for éternité". he was standing to her right, smiling, "I didn't mean to do those things. I was looking for you and collapsed, when I woke up lili and lou walked in and I remembered what I did. I was already dead."
"I believe you, I love you"
A tear trickled down her face, and dropped onto lou,
"Katherine? a ghost? Oh god... wait don't go!"
"I haven't gone yet, I ca- where are we Jackson?"
"dans les cieux"

FRIENDS
     I have made a reasonable amount of friends this past week. There's Charlie, Georgia, Chloe, Melow (Amelia) - please bare in mind here that I cant spell to save my life, and I am really sorry if you are in this list and your name is misspelt - and a bunch of other people I can't remember the names of, because I'm rubbish with names.


HOMEWWORK
     More than I am used to of boring work that wastes my time and life because the teachers aren't bothered to teach me it in class.


CLASS
     A boring time waster - most of the time. Basically, teachers teach you these things that you will most probably never use again or need to know, and they don't teach you about real life ATALL. Respect though, because if you want to be Einstein 2.0  then you will probably need to know the things they teach you, but if you just want to be a surgeon you do not need to know how Henry VIII had 6 wives or how when salt mixes with water the particles combine, do we? Yes, you will need some of the knowledge, but for most of it you go to class, learn stuff, leave class, forget everything useful.


MY MUM BEING SOME OF MY FRIENDS FORM TEACHER
     No, I am not joking. My mum is literally my friend's form tutor. She tells the whole form everything about me and my sister, and embarrasses me loads. I do love her, but come on mum! She does let me use her office for my PE KIT DUFFEL BAG that she bought me, so it is kind of useful having her just down a few corridors all day.

New day, new post!

Hey again guys - New day, new post!
     Today I made a new friend, she is really nice and sits next to me in form. Her name is Chloe (think that's how you spell it), and we are in the same class for tec and science, - don't know if we are in the same for any other subject yet - tomorrow I hope to make friends with her friends, because I didn't get the chance today. Also today, I got to got my new planner. It is practically the same from my old one but it has some extra features and a different lay out.
     My classes today were; History; geography; wood tec, tomorrow I have science, music, Religious studies, maths and German. For lunch I had pretzels, a fruit jelly and peach fizzy drink - It was muy deliciosa! - .

Welcome!!

     Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Emma, but you can call me Emzy, this is my new blog started on 2/9/2015 (today). I hope to post regularly, and if you didn't already know, I have a YouTube channel (Emma Foote - Rainbow sand profile pic)!
     I am originally from Liverpool, but moved around 2 months ago to Chipping Campden. It is mostly sunny here and definitely has better weather than Liverpool. The school seems much cleaner and modern but is much older, and seems moderately bigger than my old one. I quite like it here.
Today was my first day, I was only in for 2 hours, and I am very exited for tomorrow. I had my third and final (hopefully) tour around the school, but still can't remember half of it, and met a few of the teachers. I had my finger tipped and am getting my planner/diary and timetable tomorrow.
     I also met two other pupils from my year. We where the only year 8's in today, because we are new this year, and are now acquaintances. One of them (boy, Charlie) is from Sweden and is in my form group (8Hicks2), the other is a girl called Sophie (I think), and she seems nice but shy (she's in 8Townsend1).
     Any way, I hope you enjoyed reading my first entry to this soon to be amazing beginner blog.
